Hello!
Welcome to Masa's Musings - a space for me to share my favourite long reads [because I know you don’t read them when I share them on IG], discuss issues most relevant to women like myself and share health, skincare and wellness tips, products and sites. I'd really like us to make this newsletter a platform for thoughtful reading and engagement, affordable finds and lifestyle content that is helpful and evergreen.
If you’re subscribing to this newsletter, you’re probably a great friend of mine or you know me from my career site, The Corporate Canvas, and wish to grow with me as I take my content creation journey on a different path.
With Masa's Musings I plan to share any long reads or content that has left me in a sense of contemplation or having learned something, share recommendations of places to visit and share some of my favourite purchases. Some months, the publication will be longer than others, some months deeply personal, some months playful and some months just filled with recommendations of stuff that I find to be really cool. Please don't ever hesitate to email back with what you would like to see more of, and I will happily consider it so. For now, enjoy issue 1 - creatively titled (sarcasm) the November Edition.,
November Must-Read
“Comparison is the thief of joy" - is a statement that many of us have heard at some point. Mostly, I am a content individual who is pleased with her life, the people in it and all that I have obtained and acquired in life to date. However, I have recently found myself a victim of comparison paralysis.
Those close to me will know that I am currently house hunting. My family has expanded and with that, comes the feeling that I have outgrown the apartment I purchased when I was 24 years old.
This house hunting exercise, has, however left me feeling anxious, drained and somewhat a little depro on some days.
"My peers have proper houses" I find myself uttering lately. "I need a garden, a proper zoned off kitchen and, and, and".
Suffice to say, I have placed myself into a spiral that I quite frankly have no business sinking into.
Last year, I remember reading an article on the now-late Andre Leon Talley on how his glossy life wasn't all that it's cracked up to be. I remember feeling so grateful for my life thereafter and vowed to never look at anyone else's life and swoon over how much better it appeared in comparison to mine. So, this month I urge you to read the article too (or, again) and hopefully remember that "not all that glitters is gold".

November Must-Visit : Eighteen13 Boutique Wine Shop
The festive season is fast approaching (seriously, how quickly did this year go?) and plans for the December break will soon be underway. If you'll be stay-cationing in JHB, why not call a friend and go for a 'Paint & Sip' session at Eighteen13 Boutique Wine Shop in Cedar Square, Fourways? These usually take place on Thursday evenings and are such a great way to ring in the upcoming festive. They also often host Wine & Oyster Pairings as well as Champagne & Macaron tastings too! Visit their page for more upcoming dates - the link to all events is as follows:

November Must-Buy: Colour Me Crayons
I am pretty certain that you have begun your Christmas shopping, and if not, you're certainly thinking of what gifts to start allocating to your loved ones. This month, I highly suggest buying your kids, nephews, nieces and any other special kiddies in your life a pack of Colour Me Skin Coloured Crayons retailing at just R40. I recently purchased a pair for my 6-year-old nephew who loves to colour in and draw pictures of his family. We have come such a long way in recognising the importance of representation, and it goes without saying that these lessons start at an early age. The Colour Me Crayons are available from EthniKids - CLICK HERE
November Recommendation : Glenogle Farm
Here’s a stunning and idyllic sho’t left for you to consider this festive - Glenogle Farm. Situated about 65km from Polokwane, Limpopo, Glenogle Farm is a luxury self-catering accommodation in Magoebaskloof. While staying on Glenogle Farm, you can expect to enjoy Canopy Tours, delight in the Wegraakbosch organic cheese farm or even just take in the breathtaking views whilst sipping on your favourite glass of wine. CLICK HERE to view the official site (seriously, how stunning is this place?) and make a booking!
I hope you enjoyed this first edition of Masa’s Musings.
