Thank you for paying tribute to her era. I can draw a direct link between her going to Harvard and what it did to show me that Southern African women have a place in Ivy League schools. Also her blend of beauty, intellect and poise is something I still aim to possess. I hope is well wherever she is.
I remember my the first copy of Destiny magazine that I bought, Lupita Nyongo was on the cover, right after she was announced as the face of lancome. I was an accounting student in varsity and Destiny magazines ment so much to me. I still have my copies sitting somewhere in my parents house. It broke my heart what happened and maybe one day we will get the full story of what happened. Thank you for this, Destiny magazine will forever be missed.
You write so beautifully. I could read this ten times over. Really unfortunate what happened to Khanyi. I almost certainly know if it was a male figure in the same ordeal , they would have resurfaced and “rebranded “ by now
Oh Zimasa, I recall with happy nostalgia, how I used to look forward to purchasing my monthly copy of Destiny and would often read it from cover to cover in one go. I actually got to know about you when you were featured in the magazine for a second time, and I can gladly recall sharing this with you. I think all its loyal readers can attest to the fact that the closing of Ndalo Media's doors left a huge void in the SA magazine landscape.
It’s really sad what happened with Ndalo media. Destiny Magazine really challenged us a generation of young women and many of us owe our striving to it. 🙌🏽
